Recently I was watching Elizabeth Gilbert, and she was talking about Joseph’s Campbell research” The Hero’s Journey”. She was explaining why he believed women did not have a hero’s journey. She disagrees and so do.  I was recently discussing this with a friend I said surely the biblical heroines such Deborah the Judge.  Deborah went with the Army because Barack was scared. Jael killed the enemy general. Dorcas was on a mission of giving. Rahab risked her life to hide the spies. Their experiences should be worthy of the title of a hero’s journey. My friend suggested domestic violence survivors. I had to agree the journey from domestic violence victim to survivor, just like the hero’s journey requires a dramatic change before achieving victory.

God has blessed me to meet many extraordinary women who have courageously shared their story with me and many others.
